One issue that has plagued Oakland Athletics baseball is the search for a stadium. The first Oakland Athletics stadium, the Oakland Coliseum, was designed as a multi-purpose facility and was shared with the Oakland Raiders. When the football team left, the stadium was improved. However, the Raiders decided to move back in 1995, which presented problems for the Athletics. They ended up playing their first 6 home games of 1996 at Cashman Field in Las Vegas for lack of space. However, the renovated new home had problems selling season tickets since there were always plenty of seats. When the Athletics closed down “Mount Davis” and the third deck, the seating was reduced to just over 34,000, making it the smallest stadium for Major League Baseball. The owners of the Athletics now feel that a smaller stadium for baseball use only is better for the team, and Fremont is to be the new location as early as 2010. It is unknown yet as to whether or not the Oakland Athletics will change their name to suit the new home.

One of the most famous Oakland Athletics was Reggie Jackson. He was well known for his hitting ability, and was entered into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1993.

The 1989 Oakland Athletics baseball statistics were good, and it proved to be their last World Series Pennant to date. They beat the San Francisco Giants that year, thought the victory was overshadowed by the Loma Prieta earthquake. The year before and the year after the Athletics also made it to the World Series, only to be defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Cincinnati Reds, respectively.

A quick search online can find you everything that you want on the Oakland Athletics, including layouts for MySpace so that you can set up your own fan webpage.
